Life is like Coffee Movie
Life is like Coffee Movie: Do you know people that just seem to be happier in general? Do you say to yourself, "I want to be more like them"? Often, the happiest people in the world don't have the best of everything...they just make the best of everything!

Six Sigma Certified - Six Sigma White Belt
Six Sigma? What is it and what is it not? I was searching for answers to avoid sleeping through tomorrow's Yellow Belt Classroom Course in the office and found a website that offers a free White Belt Certification (one level below Yellow Belt). Although the "White Belt level is not fully recognized by the entire six sigma community", taking the crash course gave me a brief overview of the Six Sigma methodology.
Taking the course was a breeze. I passed the examination and received an online certification. Because it's free, I won't be receiving a hardcopy or a letter of acknowledgement, which I don't mind. I also received this badge:

Captain Planet and the Planeteers: A not-so-distant memory
We all have our time machines. Some take us back, they’re called memories. Some take us forward, they’re called dreams. ~ Jeremy Irons
This morning, my time machine took me back to a not-so-distant memory. It was triggered by a conversation I heard from coworkers about Captain Planet. While they were talking, I was secretly singing the soundtrack, which I'm not really sure I got right. It went like this:
Captain Planet, he's the hero
He's gonna take pollution down to zero
He's the power on our side
...
...
Earth!
Fire!
Wind!
Water!
Heart!
Singing bits of the TV series' soundtrack reminded me of my nephews, back when they were still toddlers. I
remembered that this was one of the cartoons they liked to watch probably because back then, there weren't a lot of cartoons or animes to choose from. I usually watch it with them because I have no choice as well or if I'm not done with my chores--hear the series in the background. There was only one television and switching to another channel wasn't always an option if I want them engaged in something and leave me alone with my chores.
Captain Planet and the Planeteers brought back a feeling of nostalgia. Back when my only cares and worries were school and doing the household chores. :) And of course, which Planeteer I am -- Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, or Heart. (I forgot which Planeteer was assigned to me by my nephews.) But, I miss those times when they were cute toddlers or probably just me being "bossy"(haha!). I didn't realize that one day, they'll become grownups and probably won't even remember the fun we've had just by simply watching Captain Planet and the Planeteers.
I know that what I'm feeling can never compare with how parents feel if they were in my shoes now. So, I'm just glad that I had the chance to share that one time (one of the many brief moments) to spend with my nephews because it brought back a smile to my face. It also made me realize (again) that life is fleeting. So, I'll have to enjoy any moments spent with the people I love because time spent will never be brought back.
To cut the drama, I googled the soundtrack/theme song of Captain Planet and the Planeteers and learned that it was written by Phil Collins! Here it goes:
Earth!
Fire!
Wind!
Water!
Heart!
GO PLANET!
With your powers combined I am Captain Planet!
Captain Planet, he's our hero,
Gonna take pollution down to zero,
He's our powers magnified,
And he's fighting on the planet side
Captain Planet, he's our hero,
Gonna take pollution down to zero,
Gonna help him put us under,
Bad guys who like to loot and plunder
"You'll pay for this Captain Planet!"
(chanting)
We're the planeteers,
You can be one too!
'Cause saving our planet is the thing to do,
Looting and polluting is not the way,
Hear what Captain Planet has to say:
"THE POWER IS YOURS!!"
From the quick search, I also learned that a movie adaptation is in the works. So, this was probably what my coworkers were talking about. From the bits and snippets I heard, I think they're not very keen about it. But, it's piqued my curiosity. I'll check on it's progress from time to time. :)
Go Planeteer! But, until I watch at least one episode again, I can't remember which Planeteer I wanted to be (or what my nephews wanted me to be).:)

Only You by Flying Pickets
Looking from the window above
It's like a story of love
Can you hear me?
Came back only yesterday
Who went further away
Want you near me
All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew
Only you
Sometimes when I think of [his] name
When it's only a game
And I need you
Listen to the words that you say
It's getting harder to stay
When I need you
All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew
Only you
This is gonna take a long time
And I wonder what's mine
Can't take no more
Wonder if you'll understand
It's just the touch of your hand
Behind a closed door
All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew
Only you

a test of self discipline
[She] who controls others may be powerful, but [she] who has mastered [herself] is mightier still. ~ Lao Tzu
The Plan
Day 1. The plan is to absolutely abstain from drinking softdrinks and eating chips -- 100 days before Christmas. Can I do it? For someone who loves softdrinks and other junk foods, it will be a test of will. The goal is to lose weight gradually. At 5'2.5", I want to maintain a weight of only 50-51kgs. As of today, I'm 56.2kgs. So, I need to lose a maximum of 6.2 kgs (I'm very good at Math *haha!*) by December 24.
My roommate tells me that I should check my weight every week after taking a bath -- clothes off. She got the idea from a television program. So, I will do just that.
Of course, we all know that abstaining from weight-gaining food is not enough. So, I've also resolved to be more active starting with doing basic yoga regularly again (at least 3 times a week) and probably get into running if I still have time (no resolve about this, for now).
I will take note of this journey to motivate and inspire myself when I feel like giving up on reaching my goal *crosses fingers*. I also hope that with my posts, I can also inspire you. :)

A Sprinkling of Insights
I love quotes. After a coworker introduced me to this website, I decided to post my favorite quotations on a daily basis. Like a sprinkler, I envision these quotes as small doses of inspiration, motivation, or something that can bring a smile at the end of the day or in the middle of a hectic day to those who wander through it. That's why I came up with the title "A Sprinkling of Insights".
Sprinkling is defined by Google's dictionary as: A small thinly distributed amount of something.
